One of the most gentle and loving people I have ever known. I can honestly say I never heard her speak unkind words about any person. The unkindest thing I ever heard her say about anyone was, "They're strange; they are not like us." This statement became a joke in our family because in reality, our family might be a "little strange" ourselves. She never thought her loved ones were strange; she loved us unconditionally.
Through My Mother's Eyes
One day I was angry at David, my husband, and said a swear word at him. He said, "Oh-h-h, I'm gonna tell your Mu-theeer!" I hope you can read this and hear the Southern drawn-out accent on the word Mother. This made me laugh, and always if he made me laugh, he could get by with whatever he had done. He called and told on me to Mother, but to my delight, Mother said in her sweetest voice, "No Sandra wouldn't say that." My Mother only believed the best of me, even when I didn't deserve her favor. I feel she looked at her loved ones as Jesus does His children - even with our faults, we are loved and forgiven.
